Coorg

Coorg is a beautiful hill station in South India. It is 252 kms. from Bangalore. The place has lush green forest, misty hills and some wonderful coffee plantations. It is indeed one of the beautiful holiday destinations of India. The word Coorg essentially means ‘dense forest on steep hill’.

The following are the places that you can visit in Coorg:

Nagarhole National Park: This is one of the best sanctuaries in southern India. It provides natural living conditions to many wild animals. You can see deer, snake, elephant, tigers, panthers, lions, rhinos and some more.

Abbi Falls: This is just seven kilometers from Madikeri town. They are quite beautiful and the sound of the waterfall in a calm dense forest area will totally entice you. Surrounding the falls are beautiful coffee plantations.

Raja’s Seat: It is said that the kings of Kodagu spent their evenings at this place. You can see a spectacular sunset that one can enjoy from here.

River Talkaveri is one of the seven sacred rivers of Sapta Sindhus of the Hindu scriptures. The river has originated at a place is called Talakaveri in the Brahmagiri hills which is at about 4,500 ft above sea level.

Dubbare is mainly an elephant camp of the Forest Department. It is situated at the edge of Dubare forest, on the bank of river Kaveri river. You can feed, bather and ride on the elephants here!

Coorg is known for its aromatic coffee, soothing honey, fine quality cardamom and pepper and juicy oranges!
