Indian culture

The rich tradition of Indian culture brings with so many vistas that are splendid in vision. There are tales of Kings and rulers and the interesting art forms they believed in. India traditionally has a penchant for art and culture. The traditional art forms were kept alive by the aptitude of the craftsmen and the patronage of the rulers who admired the form. Primarily art and fine art was the basic form of entertainment in those days and hence there were more people to prove their skills with conventional styles and other fine art depictions.

Indian culture speaks about varied languages, regional preferences, food habits and attire. As per the climatic conditions and traditional inputs the men and women dress in a particular way in each region. The gujarati style of drape and the Bengali drape of saree is very much different. The colors in a bandhi print of Rajasthan and the traditional motif of ikkat of Orissa is still visible in the regions of India. The beauty of Indian artifacts intrigues many foreign tourists.

The culture of India was influenced by several rulers. The tradition of applying mehndi or henna in our hands during festive occasions denotes fertility and a good omen in our lives. It is believed that observing rituals brings about a positive vibration. OM is a powerful word that neutralizes ill effects. It is a culture to speak to elders in a polite manner and also abide by their wishes.

Respecting womenfolk and cherishing the efforts of parents is also a part of our culture. The folding of hands as namaste is the traditional part of greeting elders and all others. Children are taught from childhood to touch the feet of elders and take their blessings while meeting them. The regional charm of India also lies in holding fairs and rituals to appease Gods and partake in Prasad which is considered auspicious. With the same, there are superstitions which are slowly changing owing to awareness of educated people.

Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Parsis, Bahas and also Christians reside amidst Indian culture and there is a secular nature about Indian culture. The schools and educational institutes go a long way to instill the faith of secularism and also look forward to celebrate all kinds of festivals. Indian culture also helps us to move forward and at the same time rely on our religious festivals and traditional.
